January 13 ,1835 -January 5 ,1894 ) was a U.S. Representative fromIowa .Born in
Mount Vernon, Ohio , Hall moved with his parents to Iowa in December 1840.He attendedKnox College ,Galesburg, Illinois , and was graduated fromMiami University ,Oxford, Ohio , in 1855.He studied law.He was admitted to the bar in 1857 and practiced.He served as member of the State house of representatives in 1872 and 1873.He served in the State senate 1882-1886.Hall was elected as a Democrat to the Forty-ninth Congress (
March 4 ,1885 -March 3 ,1887 ).He was an unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1886 to the Fiftieth Congress.He was appointed Commissioner of Patents by President Cleveland and served fromApril 12 ,1887 , toMarch 31 ,1889 .He resumed the practice of law.He died inBurlington, Iowa ,January 5 ,1894 .He was interred in Aspen Grove Cemetery.References
