Benjamin B. Blackburn

Benjamin Bentley Blackburn (born February 14, 1927) is a U.S. Representative from Georgia.

Born in Atlanta, Georgia, Blackburn attended the public schools in Atlanta, Georgia.He graduated from the University of North Carolina in 1947, and from Emory University School of Law in 1954. During the Second World War served in the United States Navy from 1944 to 1946. During the Korean conflict again served in the United States Navy from 1950 to 1952.He was retired as a lieutenant commander in the United States Naval Reserve.He served in the State attorney general's office from 1955 to 1957.He was admitted to the bar in 1954 and commenced private practice in Atlanta, Georgia, after service with the State attorney general.

Blackburn was elected as a Republican to the Ninetieth and to the three succeeding Congresses (January 3, 1967-January 3, 1975).He was an unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1974 to the Ninety-fourth Congress.He is a resident of Atlanta, Georgia.
