Chasia^[1] (Greek: Χάσια) is a mountain in the northern Trikala (Thessaly), the southern Grevena (Western Macedonia and Macedonia, Greece) and the easternmost Ioannina (Epirus) prefectures. The mountain is a part of the Pindus mountain range. The GR-6/E92 is to the south, the Via Egnatia (Igoumenitsa - Kozani - Thessaloniki - Alexandroupoli) runs through the mountain ranges with a couple of tunnels in which construction started in the late-1990s and continued until the mid-2000s and the GR-15 Kalambaka - Grevena - Siatista and runs in the east-central portion. Its length is approximately 40 km from east to west and its width is approximately 15 to 20 km from north to south. The Aliakmonas River flows to the northeast and is the starting point of the Pineios river which flows in the south, two rivers flows in the north.

The mountain range owes its name to two municipalities, one in the Grevena prefecture and the other in the Trikala prefecture.

Information

Forests dominate the low lying areas of the mountain and contains pine and spruce trees, the valley areas, grasslands, bushes and unvegetated portions dominate the higher elevations. The area around the mountain contains villages and forest roads as well as hiking trails.

Panorama

Its panorama includes the nearby mountains in the eastern portion of the Ioannina Prefecture prefecture that stretches as far as the Aoos Valley, the city of Ioannina and Lake Pamvotida. It even views northwestern Trikala Prefecture, the southern and central Grevena prefecture and the nearvy Antichasia mountains.
