List of combat losses of military aircraft during the 1990s

This is a list of notable military air combat losses of the 1990s grouped by the year that the loss occurred. This list is intended for military aircraft lost due to enemy action during combat. For military aircraft lost due to accidental causes, refer to the list of notable incidents and accidents involving military aircraft. For civil aircraft losses, refer to list of notable accidents and incidents on commercial aircraft.

1993

*October 3 - Battle of Mogadishu- A pair of US Army MH-60 Black Hawk helicopters are shot down by Somali militia gunmen. One of the pilots, CW4 Mike Durant, is captured and tortured for a number of days, but is later released.

1999

*March 25 - On the second day of the 1999 Kosovo War, 3 Serb MiG-29 fighter jets are downed by NATO F-16s in 3 separate incidents, the first publicized air-to-air combat losses during the conflict.
*March 27 - A US Air Force F-117 Nighthawk stealth ground-attack jet is shot down by a Serbian surface-to-air missile during the Kosovo War; the pilot survives and is subsequently rescued. As of June 2007, this is the only publicly acknowledged loss of an American military stealth aircraft during combat.
*May 2 – An USAF F-16C is shot down by a Yugoslav SAM. The aircraft crashes near Šabac, in a rural area of Serbia; the pilot reportedly ejects and survives.
