Aşıklı Höyük is a settlement mound located nearly 1km south of Kızılkaya village on the bank of the Melendiz brook, and 25 kilometers south - east of Aksaray. Aşıklı is located in an area covered by the volcanic tuf of central Capadocia, in Aksaray Province. The first settlement began around 8000 BC. Aşıklı Mound, is one of the most important neolithic period archaeological sites in Anatolia and the Near East. the oldest village settlements, belonging to the Aceramic Neolithic period.
