Neurotechnology Industry Organization

The Neurotechnology Industry Organization (NIO) is a San Francisco, California based non-profit trade association that represents a broad spectrum of companies involved in neuroscience, brain research centers, and advocacy groups from around the globe. Operating as a coalition of organizations in the field of neurotechnology, the goal of NIO is to enhance awareness of brain and nervous system illnesses, as well as to promote and advocate for treatment and diagnostic options.

Membership

NIO membership is open to organizations engaged in the manufacture, research and development, or marketing of pharmaceuticals, biologics, cell-based therapeutics, medical devices, and diagnostic and surgical equipment used for treating neurological diseases, nervous systems ailments and mental illnesses. Membership is also open to university neuroscience research centers, non-profit brain-state charities, and non-profit brain research centers.

Leadership

Zack Lynch is the executive director of NIO, which he founded as a vehicle to give the neurotechnology industry a collective voice. He is the managing director of NeuroInsights, a market research firm covering the neurotechnology industry. He is the publisher of the investment newsletter, Neurotech Insights, editor of Brain Waves, an industry weblog providing commentary on the intersection of neuroscience and society, and co-author of NeuroInsights’ annual report on The Neurotechnology Industry Report.
