Small nucleolar RNA SNORA40

Small nucleolar RNA SNORA40

The small nucleolar RNA ACA40 belongs to the H/ACA family of snoRNAs and guides the pseudouridylation of 28S rRNA subunit at position U4565. snoRNA ACA40 was originally discovered using large-scale cloning by Kiss et al. (2004)cite journal | last = Kiss | first = AM | coauthors = Jady BE, Bertrand E, Kiss T | year = 2004 | title = Human box H/ACA pseudouridylation guide RNA machinery | journal = Mol Cell Biol. | volume = 24 | pages = 5797–5807 | pmid = 15199136 | doi = 10.1128/MCB.24.13.5797-5807.2004] from a HeLa cell extract immunoprecipitated with an anti-GAR1 antibody. It is predicted to guide the pseudouridylation of residues 28S rRNA U4546 and 18S rRNA 1174 cite journal | author = Schattner P, Barberan-Soler S, Lowe TM | title = A computational screen for mammalian pseudouridylation guide H/ACA RNAs | journal = RNA | volume = 12 | issue = 1 | pages = 15–25 | year = 2006 | pmid = 16373490 | doi = 10.1261/rna.2210406 | issn = ] . The pseudouridylation of these residues was previously reported by Ofengand and Bakin (1997) [cite journal | last = Ofengand | first = J | coauthors = Bakin A | year = 1997 | title = Mapping to nucleotide resolution of pseudouridine residues in large subunit ribosomal RNAs from representative eukaryotes, prokaryotes, archaebacteria, mitochondria and chloroplasts | journal = J Mol Biol. | volume = 266 | pages = 246–268 | pmid = 9047361 | doi = 10.1006/jmbi.1996.0737] and Maden (1990) cite journal | author = Maden BE | title = The numerous modified nucleotides in eukaryotic ribosomal RNA | journal = Prog. Nucleic Acid Res. Mol. Biol. | volume = 39 | issue = | pages = 241–303 | year = 1990 | pmid = 2247610 | doi = | issn = ] . ACA1, ACA8, ACA18, ACA25, ACA32 and ACA40 and the C/D box snoRNAs mgh28S-2409 and mgh28S-2411 share the same host gene (MGC5306).
