Founded in 1969 Baylor University Student Foundation is the only on campus organization with its own house besides the Baptist Student Union. The Foundation began many campus traditions such as Freshman Follies, and the now defunct Bear Downs which was based on , Student Foundation substituited the Bearathon. The organization is distinctive on the Baylor campus and at Baylor events by its green and white striped rugby shirts.

The organization also has a large endowment trust fund, very strong alumni backing, and awards over $200,000 to student scholarships every year.

The mission statement of the organization is "The purpose of Student Foundation is to serve Baylor University and the student body by building community-minded servants and leaders in its membership and entrusting them with the responsibility of accomplishing the tasks of recruiting qualified students, raising scholarship funds, and building goodwill among alumni and students.

=History=In 1969, Baylor University established a student organization to represent the student constituency.

Thirteen junior men and women were selected by the university's development department and by Baylor President Abner V. McCall as charter members of the Baylor University Student Foundation Steering Committee. Through the Foundation, Baylor sought to offer these students and opportunity to gain a better understanding of the university and to develop and promote leadership qualities.

=STUFU House - the Ed Crenshaw Student Foundation Center=Ed Creshaw current CEO of Publix Supermarkets and StuFu alum made the lead gift for a new home for Student Foundation. This two-story, convert|5800|sqft|m2|sing=on facility dedicated in spring 2006 serves as a hub for the organization in its work with scholarship fundraising, recruiting, and community building. There were more than 190 different donors who gave to the construction of the new StuFu House.

=Committees and Membership=Membership is highly selective and consists of 25 junior girls, 25 junior boys, 25 senior girls and 25 senior boys. Each member submits an application that is reviewed by that year's steering committee who were chosen by the steering committee from the previous year. The acting steering committee then votes on the incoming membership based on an interview and their application. If accepted the new members receive a knock on their door and their new jersey. If rejected the student receives a phone call letting them know of their status.

Campus Promotions

The Campus Promotions committee directs efforts toward developing leadership and involvement on Baylor's campus and upholding strong morale and enthusiasm within the Foundation.

The committee organizes and directs several special events on campus throughout the year, including Freshman Follies and Bearathon, which had a record 340 participants participants in the fourth annual race in 2006. The committee uses visual publicity such as billboards, banners, flyers, slide shows, and chalking to promote Student Foundation activities.
