National Aviation Academy (NAA) is a nationally recognized aviation maintenance training school located in Clearwater, Florida. NAA began training Aircraft Mechanics in 1969 and was licensed by the FAA in 1970. They currently offer 5 programs: an FAA certified combination Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) Certifications [Aviation Maintenance Technology (AMT) Program], a combined A&P and Avionics program known as an Aviation Maintenance Professional (AMP), an Avionics Technology (AVT) program that is accredited by the National Center for Aircraft Technician Training (NCATT), an Aviation Maintenance Certification (AMC) program that enables aircraft mechanics with prior experience to increase their preparation for the FAA exams within a few weeks and an Aviation Maintenance Management Technology (AVAMM-AS) Program is an articulated program with the National Aviation Academy (NAA) and St. Petersburg College in Clearwater, Florida to obtain an Associate In Science Degree.

History

National Aviation Academy (NAA) was organized in 1969 to train Airframe and Powerplant technicians with approval of the Federal Aviation Administration under current Air Agency Certificate #DV9T100R.

We will do this while providing a quality and innovative learning experience that upholds ethical standards and respect for one another. As a constantly evolving institution, National Aviation Academy will continuously strive to ensure improvements in the quality of its faculty, staff, facilities, and other resources. We will continue to develop effective lines of communication and build relationships to enhance the visibility of NAA with various local, state, national and international constituents. We will cultivate opportunities for faculty, staff, and students to participate in community and professional activities that will enhance all of our quality of life."

On April 2, 2007 in Orlando, Florida, at the annual meeting of the Aviation Technician Education Council (ATEC) it was announced that National Aviation Academy’s Avionics Program was the first program accredited by the National Center for Aircraft Technician Training, making the National Aviation Academy the 1st NCATT Accredited Training Facility in the World."

Campus

The Florida Campus has two physical locations. A 32,000-square-foot (3,000 m2) building housing their classrooms, labs and administrative offices are located at 6225 Ulmerton Road, Clearwater, Florida 33760 (telephone number: (727) 531-2080). And a 10,000-square-foot (930 m2) lab area located on the southwest side of the St. Petersburg/Clearwater International Airport, Building 4290. The hangar has a library, student break area, aircraft, training aids, and aviation equipment for hands-on training.

The New England Campus is based at Hanscom Air Field (telephone number (781) 274-8448 and comprises 36,000-square-foot (3,300 m2) of space for labs, shops, classrooms, and administrative offices. Hanscom Air Field is one of the busiest airports in New England serving both military and civilian aviation requirements. Two buildings form a campus that puts all activities within easy walking distance. The John T. Griffin, Sr. Building, is located on the flight line and is 30,000-square-foot (2,800 m2). It houses the school's administrative offices, several spacious classrooms, as well as shop/lab hangar areas for the AMT curriculum. The Catherine A. Mayo Building is a 6,000-square-foot (560 m2) facility and contains modern classrooms and labs. Located just 15 miles northwest of Boston, Massachusetts, the school is in the town of Bedford, an attractive historic area between the towns of Lexington and Concord, near the Minuteman National Park. Shops and labs are equipped with aircraft and aircraft system mock-ups used to train students in the repair of today's state-of-the-art aircraft. Federal Pell Grants, Federal Stafford Student Loans, Federal PLUS loans, Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grants, VA Benefits, are available for those who qualify.
