The Alabama Midland Railway Company, approved by
Florida state law chapter 3797,May 31 ,1887 , was owned byJ. W. Woolfolk ,David Weil ,Josiah Morris ,A. St. C. Tennile ,Joel D. Murphree ,Sigmond Roman ,A. S. Woolfolk ,O. C. Wiley ,Fox Henderson ,James K. Murphree andR. P. Tollman .The line was to begin in
Jackson county, Florida , at some point on the boundary line between the States ofAlabama andFlorida , and run through the counties of Jackson and Gadsden, in the State ofFlorida , to or near the River Junction, in Gadsden county aforesaid, a distance of about 40 miles.The company was to begin construction within two years. Although it isn't clear if the railroad built track in Florida, it did build most of the track between
Bainbridge, GA toMontgomery, AL . When that line opened in 1890, it was purchased by thePlant Investment Company and became part of thePlant System .
