- Kosta Mušicki
Kosta Mušicki (born
April 7 ,1897 inSlavonski Brod - diedJuly 17 ,1946 inBelgrade ) was a general of theSerbian Volunteer Corps duringWorld War II .Mušicki finished gymnasium in
Zagreb and servedAustria-Hungary in theFirst World War . He participated in the campaign againstSerbia and after being taken prisoner by Serbian forces, he joined their army. After the war he remained a soldier in theRoyal Yugoslav Army .During the establishment of the
Independent State of Croatia , Mušicki remained with the Yugoslavian army and was taken prisoner by Croatian forces. However, he was soon released and sent toBelgrade where he came into contact withZBOR leaderDimitrije Ljotić . He was later made commander of the newly-formedSerbian Volunteer Corps set up by Milan Nedić's fascist quisling government. He served in this post for much of the war. His final act as commander of the corps was to make his troops part of theYugoslav Army in the Fatherland (more commonly known asChetniks ).On
January 8 ,1945 he was caught by theBritish Army and was later handed over to officials fromcommunist Yugoslavia . Mušicki was accused along with Draža Mihailović. He was sentenced for several crimes, including responsibility for theKragujevac massacre and Axis-collaboration. He was executed in Belgrade in 1946.See also
