Hermanivka has a Museum of Cossackdom (opened in 1995), which contains more than 4,000 exhibits on the history of Zaporizhian Cossacks.

This village was two times visited by famous cossacks uprising leader Severyn Nalyvaiko and was a place of battle between Bohdan Khmelnytsky troops and Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth forces in 1651. The well-known Hadiach Treaty between Cossacks and Poles was declared here by Ivan Vyhovsky [ [http://www.encyclopediaofukraine.com/pages/V/Y/VyhovskyIvan.htm Encyclopedia of Ukraine] ] .

Two cossack colonels - Prokop Vereschak and Stepan Sulima are buried in Hermanivka.

In 18th century peasants of Hermanivka, which became a part of Russian Empire, took active part in anti-serf movement. Not obedient was this village at the early Soviet time, when Holodomor took away every 5th life of its population.

At present Hermanivka has 890 households, several schools, libraries and churches.
