Studio Mogul (Sebastian Ahmad) is a graphic designer based in
London , known for his artwork in theAsian Underground music scene.
Born in 1968 in what later became
Bangladesh , he was raised for 7 years by his mother's relatives. His uncle was General Khaled Musharraf, who performed a military coup in 1975 before being assassinated four days later. After the family came out of hiding, Ahmad was taken to his parents in Saudi Arabia, and then moved to London in 1981.Ahmad became involved in the
Asian Underground scene through meetingTalvin Singh and helping to run the famous Anokha club night. He designed Singh's first album cover, and then went on to create a series of images that became part ofState of Bengal 's first album. Ahmad then developed the Stoned Asia club nights with DJ Pathaan, and the Swaraj club nights with DJ Khushboo, defining their visual style through his flyers. He also did several album covers forNation Records .His most iconic image is the Swaraj album cover with the Indian female in the DJ headphones, which has been bootlegged onto t-shirts all over South and Southeast Asia.
