Veteran

During his deployment in Iraq, Bose – a former Major in the U.S. Army – cared for wounded soldiers and Iraqi civilians while under attack, and was the only board-certified physician in emergency medicine for 135,000 Americans.[7] He provided front line emergency care during the peak of insurgencies in Baghdad, and Najaf, and was one of the only front line emergency physicians in the Second Battle of Fallujah.[8] When not on missions, Dr. Bose volunteered his free time by serving at the busiest trauma center in the world at that time, the Ibn Sina Hospital.[9] For his service, he received Presidential recognition and was awarded the Bronze Star and Army Commendation Medal. Dr. Sudip Bose is championing efforts to raise awareness and funding for wounded veterans and the families of fallen soldiers, especially with posttraumatic stress disorder.[10]

As an Iraq war veteran, Dr. Bose has witnessed first-hand the devastating impact this disorder can have on soldiers and their families and he shares his expertise about the "Hidden Wounds of War" with leading hospitals and universities across the United States. Dr. Bose lectures nationally on lessons learned as a Battalion Surgeon in Iraq, including a keynote lecture with then-Senator Barack Obama in 2006.[11] He is the founder of TheBattleContinues.org which raises awareness and funding for veteran issues.
