The Black World Today

The Black World Today

The Black World Today is a communicative website founded in July 1996 by former press secretary to Maurice Bishop, Don Rojas.

The site contains numerous regular contributors, including Conrad Worrill (National Black United Front), Ron Daniels (Center for Constitutional Rights), Ron Walters (University of Maryland), Bill Fletcher (TransAfrica), Hugh Price (National Urban League), Manning Marable (Columbia University), and Kevin Powell (Cultural Activist), along with many others.

The journalists, writers, artists, communicators, and entrepreneurs involved aim to interpret the social, political, cultural, and economic realities that affect the black community. Black World Today does not align with any specific political parties but supports agendas that strive to obtain universal peace. Founders of the premiere site believe that the mass medium of the internet can further the empowerment of African Americans in the U.S. and around the world. Instead of the African American community consisting of predominately passive consumers, Black World Today advocates that black people should invest in new technologies to increase progress in a knowledge-based global economy.
