ABC Family series "Kyle XY " and is portrayed byKirsten Prout .Before Season 1
Amanda's father died a year before the events of season one. She was scheduled to have her confirmation that year, but it was pushed back because of her father's death.
eason 1
Kyle first meets Amanda by being lured to her playing of
Pachelbel's Canon . He enters into her house and sneaks up behind her to listen, being moved to tears by the music. Amanda hears and notices him. Startled, Kyle runs back to the Trager residence. Amanda and her mother, Carol, go to the Tragers that night. Carol explains toNicole Trager that Kyle had entered their house uninvited. Kyle is there with Nicole, and he begin to develop a crush on Amanda. Amanda clearly is not as upset as her mother and even bids Kyle farewell when they leave.A few nights later Kyle calms a stray dog by staring it in the eye. Amanda, looking out the window, is surprised ("You're like.... the
Dog Whisperer ."). Amanda then explains to Kyle about "down time" and how his family would have to be searching for him ("You didn't just fall from the sky."). Later, while driving home, Amanda is surprised to see Kyle jumping off the roof. This causes her to crash into some trash cans. Amanda asks Kyle if she should conceal the damage done to the car or admit to the damage. Kyle then tells her to simply admit it. Amanda then tells Kyle to wish her luck.Later, Carol is very upset to hear that the car is damaged. Kyle then arrives to defend Amanda, lying that he had caused the wreck. Carol scolds Kyle and tells him that he is not allowed near her daughter or her property. A few days later Lori takes Kyle and Josh to the swimming pool where Amanda is a
lifeguard . While Lori, Josh and Hillary talk, Kyle dives into the pool fully clothed, staying underwater long enough for people to be concerned for him. Amanda dives in after him and saves him. While she begins to pat him down, he gets anerection . Mr. Trager explains what that is to him later because he doesn't know. This causes everyone around Kyle to start laughing, but Kyle doesn't understand what's wrong with it. That night, Amanda arrives to the Tragers' house to see Kyle. She enters Kyle's room to find many pictures drawn of her, which makes Amanda very uncomfortable. As she exits, she bumps into Kyle who is holding one of Josh'spornographic magazines . She quickly hurries out of the house.The next day Kyle and Lori show up for swimming lessons with her. Kyle immediately learns how to swim extraordinarily well. They speak about the pictures he drew of her and he explains he drew so many because "something was missing". She invites him over the next day while her mom is out of the house. While he visits, she explains how her father died in the last year. She also tells him that to make good art, he must be able to imagine things as well. The weekend before school begins, she goes to a party where she meets Kyle. Before he can speak, Amanda's boyfriend,
Charlie Tanner shows up. He is introduced to Kyle.As school begins, Amanda is sitting at a
lunch table with Charlie which makes Kyle reluctant to join them. That day, Amanda and Charlie visit Kyle in the school library. After Kyle shuns Charlie, Charlie confides to Amanda that he does not think Kyle likes him. Amanda dismisses this, but later returns to the library. She questions Kyle if he likes her in a romantic way. Kyle lies and replies, "we're friends".A week later, a huge rainstorm hits Seattle. Since Carol is out of the house and her power went out, Amanda goes over to the Tragers' house. While she, Lori, Josh, Kyle and Declan wait for the power to turn on. Kyle uses a Ouija board and finds a strange number, 781227. The weather begins to clear up and they go outside. After Declan makes a rude comment about someone being dead, Kyle begins to become afraid, telling everyone to return into the house. As they run, a bolt of lightning hits a flower pot, shattering it. When the power turns on, Amanda and Kyle search 781227 on the
internet . When nothing occurs, Josh explains that he believes Kyle is an alien and uses his "Kyle File" for proof. Kyle becomes very angry and yells at Josh. All the children go upstairs while Mrs. Trager tries to calm Kyle down. The kids talk about how bad they would feel if they didn't have a past. Amanda returns to talk to Kyle about her father in his tub which she dubbed "Wallow Central." This makes Kyle feel much better.During the basketball season, Amanda is forced to go to the Beachwood basketball games to keep Charlie's stats. During the championship, she and Lori sit together. At the Beachwood Carnival a few weeks later, Amanda and Charlie show up. Amanda convinces Kyle to ride on the Merry-Go-Round but is unable to convince Charlie. While on the ride, Kyle tries to listen to a conversation and he suffers a
seizure . Everyone hurries to the hospital and Amanda tells Lori to tell Kyle she's thinking about him.The next weekend is Amanda's confirmation. Amanda is a devout Catholic. As Amanda attempts to speak to Kyle outside the church, she is pulled away by her mother. The next day, Amanda visits Kyle and tells him that he should find a saint. This prompts Kyle to go to church. The following day, at Kyle's going-away party, she bids Kyle farewell.
eason 2
In the episode The Homecoming, she is seen reuniting with Kyle and talking to him, saying they should reconnect later. In the episode The List is Life, Kyle tries to tell Amanda about Charlie cheating on her, but thinks that she does not want to hear it from him, so he does not say anything. Later, Charlie was voted "Biggest Slut" on "The List", a list at Beechwood high school which characterizes elected individuals based on their personality and status. Amanda thinks this is a joke and Charlie lies and acts as if it is. He then goes to talk to Amanda, but Hillary interrupts and says that "It's not a joke." Amanda looks at Kyle and asks if that was he wanted to tell her and says that he was wrong in thinking that she would not want to hear it from him.
Amanda is not on good terms with Kyle in the early period of the fourth episode of season 2. Then, during a scene where Josh is testing Amanda's car, he tells Amanda to look for the best in people because she's good at that. Later, Amanda is seen parking her car and waving gently at Kyle while she smiles, indicating that their relationship is on good terms again. Kyle and Amanda go to a dance together at the local hangout, and they almost kiss until Jessi causes the lights to blow. In the end of the next episode, What's the Frequency Kyle?, Amanda and Kyle share their first kiss in a garden where Amanda and her deceased father used to visit frequently.
In the episode Ghost in the Machine, Amanda realizes Jessi likes Kyle, in which Jessi mentions she and Kyle "have a connection," so Amanda clearly explains to Jessi that Kyle is with her, not Jessi. Amanda, still unsure if she and Kyle are a couple, talks to Lori, who tells her that she'll never know until she kisses him again. After kissing him for the second time, Amanda realizes she and Kyle are officially a couple. She becomes distressed when Kyle cancels their dates without telling her why. After they make up in Hands on a Hybrid, their relationship fades again when Amanda walks in on Jessi and Kyle touching each others stomachs because they both don't have belly buttons. She believes that Kyle is cheating on her with Jessi. Kyle tells her to "Believe in me" and she says that's exactly what Charlie said to her, and walks away. In the episode Leap of Faith, Amanda apologizes to Kyle and they make up. She decides to go to the music program for a semester, and wants Kyle to be there to say goodbye. It turns out that she does not want to leave Kyle for that long so she returns home. Amanda comes and stays with Kyle overnight. After finding out that Amanda did not go to the conservatory, Amanda's mom grounds her and forces her to get a job. Amanda gets a job at The Rack with Josh. Amanda does a lot of extra curricular activities for college and she is part of the prom planning committee which is very stressful. Her and Kyle's relationship continues to grow, and in the episode Hello..., Kyle asks Amanda to prom with her mom's permission. In the prom season finale, Kyle and Amanda say "I love you" to each other. Shortly after the dance, Kyle goes back inside the gym to take her left clothes then she is kidnapped and a latnok ring is found where she was last standing.
