The main event was Anderson Silva defending the UFC Middleweight Championship against Nathan Marquardt. Sherk defeated Franca via unanimous decision after five five-minute rounds to retain the title. Two judges scored the bout 50–45 Sherk, while the other scored it 49–46 Sherk. Also on the main card was a light heavyweight bout between Tito Ortiz and Rashad Evans. After three five-minute rounds, all three judges scored the bout 28–28, thus ending in a draw. During the second round, Ortiz was deducted a point for grabbing the cage while Evans was attempting a takedown.
