Political line

Political line

A political line is the general view a political party, organization, faction, or ideology takes on a given question. The existence of a political line gives its advocates guidance on what to say, which makes their work easier. It also gives opponents an understanding of who is linked together by listening closely to who uses what words or phrases. The concept of political line - which goes back at least to the Communist Party of the 1930s - is somewhat similar to the 21st century concept of echo chamber. Those who repeat a political line are serving as an echo chamber; it is widely asserted that conservatives have a much bigger echo chamber than liberals, due to the proliferation of right-wing journals, newsaper columns, foundations, publications, blogs, etc.
