Douglass Clayton Colman (born June 4, 1973 in Somers Point, New Jersey) is a former American football linebacker in the National Football League. He last served as defensive assistant/linebackers coach in NFL Europa for the Amsterdam Admirals.

Playing career

Colman started his career at Ocean City High School where he is a member of the hall of fame.^[1] As a senior, he was named "South Jersey Defensive Player of the Year" at linebacker and he also gained more than 1,000 yards as fullback. Later he played college football at and graduated from the University of Nebraska before being drafted in the sixth round (171st overall) of the 1996 NFL Draft by the New York Giants. He played five seasons in the NFL from 1996 to 2000 as linebacker, playing a total of 64 games for the Giants, Titans (including Super Bowl XXXIV) and Browns.

Following his stay in the NFL, Colman has taken up various coaching positions, working jobs such as assistant coach for Oakcrest High School in 2002 and for Ocean City High School before becoming head coach at Absegami High School in 2003. Since taking over at Absegami, Colman compiled a record of 40-15, with two appearances in the South Jersey Group IV Championship game, winning it in 2006. Colman's Braves also won three straight Cape-Atlantic American Conference Championships.

He joined the Amsterdam Admirals for the 2007 season as a member of the NFL Europa coaching program but resigned in 2008 to work as the defensive quality coach at Nebraska, his alma mater. Colman is currently the linebackers coach at Tulane University. ^[2]
