The East End Brewing Company is a microbrewery located between the Point Breeze and Homewood neighborhoods of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in the United States. It is owned and operated by brewmaster Scott Smith. The brewery prides itself for being an environmentally friendly operation. Their flagship brew, the Big Hop IPA and several other East End beers are available on tap at roughly 100 bars and restaurants in the Pittsburgh area and throughout Western PA. In addition to the four active year-round beers, there are four seasonal beers (East End Witte, Pedal Pale Ale, Big Hop Harvest Ale, and Snow Melt Winter Ale), plus a Session Ale series of one time batches, [cite journal | title = Smallville: For Session Brew Enthusiasts, Less Is More | author = Adam Tepedelen | journal = Imbibe | year = 2008 | month = February | accessdate = 2008-04-13 | pages = 66–71 | url = http://www.eastendbrewing.com/files/Imbibe%20Magazing%20Session%20Ale%20story.pdf ] and the brewery also releases hand-bottled specialty beers (Gratitude Barleywine, Smokestack Heritage Porter, The Ugly American) on a not-so-regular basis. While the brewery is not a brewpub, growlers, bottles and other merchandise are available for purchase at the brewery during "Growler Hours", which currently (April 2008) run four days a week.
