Mau is located at 23°57′N 77°07′E / 23.95°N 77.12°E / 23.95; 77.12[1]. It has an average elevation of 434 metres (1423 feet).

Demographics

As of 2001 India census[2], Mau had a population of 17,625. Males constitute 57% of the population and females 43%. Mau has an average literacy rate of 55%, lower than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 67%, and female literacy is 39%. In Mau, 16% of the population is under 6 years of age.
