List of Cold Feet cast members

The British comedy drama television series "Cold Feet" began in 1998 with six principal cast members: James Nesbitt, Helen Baxendale, John Thomson, Fay Ripley, Robert Bathurst and Hermione Norris.Rice, p. i] All six reprised their roles from the 1997 pilot episode. Thomson's character Pete Gifford was written specifically for him after his performance in creator Mike Bullen's first television project made a positive impression on the producer Christine Langan. [Tibballs, p. 12] Norris originally auditioned for the part of Rachel but was cast as Karen because the role suited her social class. [Tibballs, p. 14] When the fourth series was commissioned, Ripley announced that she no longer wished to play Jenny Gifford, wanting to broaden her career options. [Smith, p. 76] Kimberley Joseph was cast as Jo Ellison, a replacement character who remained on screen until "Cold Feet"'s conclusion. [Smith, p. 170] Significant recurring roles in the series are played by Jacey Salles (Ramona Ramirez, Series 1–5), [Smith, p. 120] Rosie Cavaliero (Amy, Series 2), [Smith, p. 228] Ben Miles (Robert Brown, Series 3), [Smith, p. 104] Yasmin Bannerman (Jessica Barnes, Series 3),Smith, p. 159] Sean Pertwee (Mark Cubitt, Series 4–5), [Smith, p. 219] Richard Armitage (Lee, Series 5) [Smith, p 105] and Lucy Robinson (Robyn Duff, Series 5). Bullen makes numerous Hitchcock-esque cameo appearances; he plays a neighbour and a husband in the first series and a construction worker in the third. [Smith, p. 11]

Nesbitt, Thomson, Ripley and Norris all received British Comedy Awards nominations throughout the series' run. Nesbitt, Thomson and Norris were nominated in 2001, though none won. Despite all receiving equal billing in the credits, the original principal cast members were paid different salaries in the first few years; Baxendale and Nesbitt were the most well-known, so received more than Ripley, Thomson, Norris and Bathurst, who were comparitively less well-known to audiences. Prompted by the continued success of the show, executive producer Andy Harries reviewed the salaries in 2000 and took the decision to pay all six actors the same amount for the third series. For the final series in 2003, they each received £75,000 an episode.
