Red (an orchestra)

Red (an orchestra)

Red {an orchestra} is an American chamber orchestra based in Cleveland, Ohio.

Established in 2001, it is directed by conductor and Artistic Director Jonathan Sheffer. The orchestra's repertoire spans from the work of Renaissance composers such as Heinrich Schütz to contemporary classical pieces (including works by Frank Zappa, John Corigliano, and Sheffer himself). Red has also engaged in innovative multimedia collaborations with film, puppetry, visual art, narration, and other art forms.

Red {an orchestra} has received reviews in the "The Plain Dealer" and the "Akron Beacon Journal".

The orchestra suspended its operations in March 2008, due primarily to financial woes and a blizzard that cancelled two of its concerts. [http://www.cleveland.com/entertainment/index.ssf/2008/03/red_an_orchestra_suspends_oper.html]
