Friends Academy is a Quaker, coeducational, independent, college preparatory school serving students from age three through the twelfth grade, located in Locust Valley, New York. The school was founded in 1876 by Gideon Frost for "the children of Friends and those similarly sentimented". When founded by Frost (he was 78 years old at the time), the school was originally named "Friends College." The campus covers 65 acres. The school is organized around quad with buildings surrounding it. Recent additions to the school include the Helen A. Dolan Center (2000), the Kumar-Wang Library (2000) and the renovation of the Upper School (now called Gideon Frost Hall) in 2004. There are typically 800 students with around 190 faculty.

There are 750 students from a several backgrounds and communities throughout Long Island. There are 210 students in the Lower School, 185 in the Middle School, and 355 in the Upper School. There 116 full- and part-time teachers. The student-teacher ratio is 7:1.

While it is a Quaker school, there are only around 8 quaker students and teachers. Tuition ranges from US$20-25,000 a year, and the school has a 95% retention rate.fact|date=March 2007

Virtually all Friends graduates go to college, attending colleges and universities throughout the U.S. and abroad.fact|date=January 2008
