- Crustless bread
-
Crustless bread is bread without crusts. It is popular among children. It is popular in spite of the fact that bread crusts are very high in fiber, antioxidants, and contain a greater concentration of vitamins and minerals than the rest of the bread.[1]
On July 27, 2005, British food group RHM announced it was to launch a crustless bread product under its Hovis brand, targeted at young children, who generally prefer the softer, milder tasting part of a loaf. The product is the first loaf to be baked without a crust, yet with a palatable shell which supports the foam. This innovation was created by RHM Technology and further developed with British Bakeries. Other bread manufacturers have released crustless bread, with the crusts removed.
Sara Lee and Ironkids also have a crustless bread product.[clarification needed]
