WJCW is an AM radio station broadcasting in the Tri-Cities, Tennessee area under a News/Talk format. It broadcasts on AM frequency 910 kHz and is under ownership of Citadel Broadcasting. The station is licensed to Johnson City, and shares a studio with Citadel's other Tri-Cities stations in Gray, Tennessee.

History

WJCW originally signed on in 1938 as WJHL, owned by John H. Lancaster, Sr. It was the second radio station in the Tri-Cities. Under Lancaster's son and grandson, the station spawned an FM station (now WBGQ) and a television station (still under the WJHL-TV calls).

WJHL-AM was eventually sold later to James C. Wilson (son of the founder of the area's first radio station, WOPI) and renamed WJCW. In 1990, it became the Tri-Cities' first news/talk station.

Programming

WJCW airs a local morning show entitled "Thinking Out Loud" as well as Mike Gallagher, The Rush Limbaugh Show, The Sean Hannity Show, Mark Levin, Dennis Miller, Jim Bohannon, Lars Larson and Dave Graveline. The station also carries Imus in the Morning through a link on its Web site, although not over the air. WJCW also airs specially-built replays of Limbaugh, Hannity and Levin during the weekends in their regular weekday time slots.

The station is an affiliate of the Atlanta Braves radio network, the largest radio affiliate network in Major League Baseball. [ cite web|url=http://mlb.mlb.com/atl/schedule/affiliates.jsp|title=Affiliate Radio Stations|work=The Official Site of the Atlanta Braves]
