Independence Junior High School is located in Palos Heights, Illinois, a city south of Chicagoand has been in the process of teaching students ever since 1976. It is a school of about 300 students. The school is part of district 128 and consists of 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. The students partake in nine 43 min. periods. Students take life, physical and natural science, Literature, Reading, Math, PE, art/music, and Social Studies. Students are given the option of band, French, and/or study hall. A period is also dedicated to lunch. They have many sports teams and clubs at IJHS. These teams and clubs include basketball, volleyball, cheer, dance (poms), NJHS, chess club, environmental club and many more.
