History

Rainard opened in 1986. It was founded by Dr. Lorraine Bouchard. Dr. Bouchard left the school in 2008, and is no longer involved with the school.

The school has a unique thematic curriculum for the lower school, with a different overarching theme on a three year rotation. For 2008-2009, the theme is "Freedom." Classes are multi-age, multi-level, with a given classroom spanning three to four traditional grade levels. The school has a target of a 12 to 1 student to teacher ratio. As of 2008, the school's total enrollment is approximately 70 students.

After 19 years at its former location at 13922 Old Katy Road [http://web.archive.org/web/20010217031408/http://www.rainard.org/] , The Rainard School moved to a new campus at 11059 Timberline [http://www.rainard.org/cgi-bin/site.cgi?p=Campus.html&t=5] in fall 2005; the address formerly housed The Parish School.

The current Head of School is Judy Banta. Meredith Hester directs the High School.
