Ontario 's northernmost Kings Highway. The road is just 13 km long, but travels from its terminus at Highway 105 inRed Lake, Ontario to theferry docks in the Cochenour/McKenzie Island area of Red Lake. The only provincially-controlled highway that travels further north is the secondary Highway 599 to Pickle Lake. The road was paved in its entirety by1963 .Beyond Cochenour and Balmertown, unmaintained
forestry roads travel northwards to Pikangikum, and link to winter/ice road s that service communities even further north.ee also
