MV Empire MacKay

MV Empire MacKay

MV "Empire MacKay" was a BP tanker converted to Merchant Aircraft Carrier (MAC ship).

Entered service as MAC ship October 1943.

Displacement 7,950 tons. Converted by Harland and Wolff.

After the Second World War it returned to merchant service as "British Swordfish" and was scrapped in Rotterdam in 1959. Her post-war name may derive from the Fairey Swordfish aircraft which she carried. [http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qa4442/is_200410/ai_n16065438/pg_7]
