Ballantyne is a neighborhood in the city of Charlotte, North Carolina.

It is a convert|2000|acre|km2|sing=on lifestyle community located in south Charlotte, adjacent to the South Carolina border. This live, work, stay and play community offers upscale shopping and dining, hotel accommodations by Staybridge Suites, Courtyard By Marriott and a Mobil Four-Star Ballantyne Resort [ [http://www.ballantyneresort.com Ballantyne Resort] ] which features a luxurious Spa, Golf, Dining and boutique shopping. Ballantyne was named after land developer Howard C. “Smoky” Bissell's aunt Barbara Ballantyne. Mr. Bissell was the visionary who predicted that Charlotte would expand toward the South Carolina border and planned an office and commercial development relative to his prediction.

Ballantyne includes a country club community, with a growing number of neighborhoods with homes that range from starter homes to estates that sell for millions of dollars. Bissell
