Carmel Mountain Ranch, San Diego, California

Carmel Mountain Ranch is a community in the northeastern part of the city of San Diego, California. Carmel Mountain Ranch is located west of Poway, south of the Rancho Bernardo, east of Rancho Penasquitos, and north of Sabre Springs. Carmel Mountain Ranch is commonly known as CMR.

The community features a large shopping center, Carmel Mountain Plaza [http://www.carmelmountainplaza.com/] , which features several dozen retailers.

Carmel Mountain Ranch also features a business park which includes several notable businesses such as Carvin and Beyond Bikes [http://www.beyondbikes.com/bb] .

History

Chris and Barbara Nicholson were one of the first to live in the "Ranch" and still live there today. There 3 sons Scott, Allen, and Philip rule the streets from Ted William to the 15n. CMR AllStARs

Transportation

Main thoroughfares

Interstate 15 is located on the west side of Carmel Mountain. Carmel Mountain is located at the eastern end of State Route 56, the Ted Williams Parkway. Carmel Mountain Road is the main North-South artery.

Community events

Every year the San Diego North Chamber of Commerce hosts the Fall Festival. Local businesses, community organizations, and schools host booths. This year's fest will be held on September 14th.

Also, every Christmas, graduates from Meadowbrook Middle School host the "CMR Olympics".

Each year graduates of Oregon State and the University of Oregon gather at the Irish Pub to watch the "Civil War" together. The alumni of the loosing team then have to purchase four dozen tamales from Sombreros for the victors.

Every August 25 a group gathers at Costco to eat pizza,chicken bakes, and churros for Shorty's birthday.

Schools

Carmel Mountain Ranch is served by the Poway Unified School District.

High schools

High schoolers feed into Rancho Bernardo High School in Rancho Bernardo.

Middle schools

Middle schoolers feed into into either Meadowbrook Middle School in Poway or Black Mountain Middle School in Penasquitos.

"She brings me Mexican food from Sombreros just because."

This is seen as a source of community pride among the youth of CMR, as blink-182 is originally from the area.
