Cooke Collegians

Cooke Collegians

Cooke Collegians Cricket Club has been in existence for eight years since the merger of two of Belfast cricket clubs in 1998. Success followed with 14 trophies amassed in this time. Collegians and Cooke Cricket Clubs both played their cricket in Section 3 of the Northern Cricket Union Senior League prior to the amalgamation and the combined club retained this status.

Teams

Initially after the merger the club managed to field six Saturday teams. However the passing years has seen this number decline to only three teams as the initial impetus gained from the merger disappeared. Many players have left or retired with few replacements coming through from the youth teams.

In 2006 the First Eleven escaped relegation from Section 2 with two wins in their last two fixtures of the season. Unfortunately 2006 also saw the withdrawal of the Fourth Eleven from league cricket.

The Captains for the 2008 season are as follows

* 1st XI Luke Willmott
* 2nd XI Mark Linder
* 3rd XI Jeremy Burrows

uccesses

* 1st XI - won promotion to Section 2 of the Northern Cricket Union Senior League at the first attempt, and winning the Barbados sixes competition played for by clubs throughout Ireland.
* 2nd XI - won and retained the Intermediate Cup. In 2005 they gained promotion to Division 2 Section 1.
* 3rd XI - won in successive years sections 3, 2 and 1 of their Division. They were runners-up in the Minor Cup in 2005.
* 4th XI - won the Minor Qualifying Cup.
