Feathered hair

Feathered hair

Feathered hair was a hairstyle popular in the 1970s and the early 1980s with men and women, the hair was grown long on both sides (normally covering the ears, although it could be shoulder length) unlayered (although some men with curly hair did have it layered) with either a side or a centre parting. the haircut gained phenomenal popularity in the early 1970s, many British celebrities wore this style at some time or another including Tim Brooke Taylor of The Goodies and Eric Idle (who wore it for a short time between about 1969 and 1971). Notable American celebrities who were known for the style include Farrah Fawcett and Don Johnson.

The continued popularity of feathered hair may have been helped by the dominating fashion influence of Disco music in the late-70s and by the ideas and themes of "cool" in the 1980s.
