Trivia
* The title of this episode is a reference to "Rashomon," a film by Japanese director
Akira Kurosawa . A key element of the film is the difficulty of determining exactly what happened from conflicting eye-witness accounts. This is mimicked in this episode by four of the CSI's recounting the events at the scene from their own perspective whereby each of which differs in its interpretation of the events and each of which adds its own zest to it.
* "Rashomama" is also the title of episode 18 of the Americansitcom "Mama's Family " which also follows the "Rashomon" formula of multiple eyewitnesses to the same event with conflicting stories that must be reconciled.
* The "grease monkey" who stole Nick's car is called "Michael Shoemaker." His name in German would be "Michael Schumacher ." "Schumacher," besides being a driver, also worked as a car mechanic earlier in his life.
* When Greg, Sara, and Nick are recounting their version of events at Cupid's Kiss, the background music is from the award winning film American Beauty; the episode shares many motifs with the movie, such as recurring scenes with roses and even Nick mentioning the words "American beauty."ee also
