Bochdalek's foramen

Bochdalek's foramen is a defect in the diaphragm normally posterior lateral. It is formed by the incomplete closure of the pericardioperitoneal canals by the pleuroperitoneal membrane. The existence of this foramen might cause a congenital diaphragmatic hernia, Bochdalek hernia.
