- River Lynher
The River Lynher flows through
Cornwall , passingSt Germans and entersPlymouth Sound at theHamoaze . It is approximately 21 miles (or 34km long), rising at a height of approximately 920 feet (or 280m) onBodmin Moor and flowing into the Tamar Estuary atPlymouth . It has four main tributaries, the largest of which is theRiver Tiddy . The smaller tributaries includeDeans Brook ,Withey Brook ,Marke Valley andDarleyford streams andKelly Brook .The Lynher and its tributaries are largely used for rod and line fishing, particularly for
brown trout andAtlantic salmon . Its estuary is a designatedSite of Special Scientific Interest and also as aSpecial Protection Area . Many species can be found here, including rarer species such as thekingfisher ,otter ,dipper ,avocet ,black-tailed godwit and the triangular club-rush (scirpus ).
