Oak Street (Vancouver)

Oak Street is a major north-south street in Vancouver, British Columbia. The street runs from a three way intersection with 6th Avenue in the north (just south of False Creek) to the Oak Street Bridge in the south, leading towards Richmond. From its intersection with 70th Avenue southwards, the route it a component section of Highway 99, which from the Oak Street Bridge to the border is designated Highway 99, due to its freeway status on that stretch.

The Street has 6 lanes throughout its length except for the first 6 km south from its northern terminus, where it is 4 lanes wide. From north to south, it runs through a very busy commercial district, then by Vancouver General Hospital, then some very expensive Vancouver neighbourhoods, Shaughnessy and Oakridge then to Marpole, a busy middle-class commercial and residential area, and into Richmond.
