The Abominable Snowman of Pasadena

The Abominable Snowman of Pasadena

"The Abominable Snowman of Pasadena" is the 38th book in author, R.L. Stine's "Goosebumps" series. The book centers around Jordan Blake and his sister, Nicole, who are tired of all the hot weather of Pasadena, California. All of their troubles are over when Garrison Blake, their dad, is given an assignment to photograph a mysterious snow creature in Alaska.

Now, it looks like the snow creature has found them because they're being chased by it! However, like most incarnations of the Abominable Snowman, this version is simply a misunderstood creature that is really harmless (though he harbors a taste for trail mix). After Garrison discovers the Snowman resting inside a block of ice, he decides to ship the creature back to California for a little while, stored in an airtight container so that the ice won't melt.

However, the real trouble begins when Jordan decides to pack a couple of snowballs into the airtight container, so that he and Nicole can throw them at two mean kids Kyle and Kara Miller. Unfortunately, Lauren Sax, one of Jordan and Nicole's friends attempts to start a "snowball fight", only to reveal that the snowballs aren't made of regular snow - they instantly freeze anything that they hit! The first snowball hits Jordan's lawn, turning it into a Winter Wonderland. All seems well at first, but the second snowball hits Nicole, freezing her into a human popsicle! The situation looks hopeless when it's revealed that no source of heat will melt the mysterious snow, until Jordan's harebrained idea of freeing the Abominable Snowman (using a bag of trail mix) works, and the snowman absorbs all of the snow into his body and then runs off into the street.
