Sharlene Wells Hawkes

Sharlene Wells Hawkes (born 16 March 1964), from Salt Lake City, Utah, was Miss America 1985.

Hawkes (née Wells), was born in Asunción, Paraguay and spent most of her childhood in South America.

Hawkes is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She attended Brigham Young University from which she graduated in 1988. Hawkes is the daughter of Robert E. Wells, a former general authority of the LDS Church.

From Miss America to award-winning reporter with ESPN, Hawkes has reached the top of two starkly different worlds by learning to move well beyond her "comfot zone." She uses her unique experiences to motivate and teach audiences how to challenger their own comfort zone boundaries in their quest for success.

Hawkes currenly serves as Executive Vice President of Story Rock Electronic Publishing. She is married to Robert A. Hawkes She is a spokesperson for ASCEND, a Humanitarian Alliance.
