Peter Williams (broadcaster)

Peter Williams is a New Zealand television presenter who currently reads the news updates on Television New Zealand's Breakfast and Good Morning and the Midday bulletin from Mondays-Wednesdays. He is also the co-host of the "One News" 6pm weekend bulletin, and a regular fill in for the weekday 6pm bulletin.

Peter has worked at TVNZ, previously TV One, since 1979 after starting his broadcasting career in radio as a teenager in 1972. At TVNZ Peter has been a sports anchorman, commentator and reporter before joining the ONE News team full-time in his main role as Breakfast newsreader.

His work has taken him around the world, covering top sports events over the years including four Olympic Games, five Commonwealth Games, three Rugby World Cups, two Cricket World Cups and two Masters golf tournaments. This year he will be hosting ONE News sports news as well as hosting the evening session on Tv ONE during the Beijing Olympics.

In 1999 he was awarded the New Zealand Rugby Union's Supreme Media Award for his work at the 1999 Rugby World Cup. He has twice been New Zealand Golf Broadcaster of the Year.

He is also regular columnist on golf in the Herald on Sunday.

He was born in 1954, has three adult children and lives in Auckland, New Zealand with his wife Sarah Sandley.
