Armenia Tree Project (ATP) is a
non-profit organization based in Watertown,Massachusetts ,United States , andYerevan ,Armenia founded in 1994 by Carolyn Mugar to promote Armenia's socioeconomic development through reforestation.The Executive Director is Jeff Masarjian and Deputy Director is Jason Sohigian. ATP works on three major program initiatives: (1) Planting Trees at Urban and Rural Sites; (2) Environmental Education and Advocacy; and (3) Community Development and Poverty Reduction.
The organization has a full-time staff of 75, of whom 70 are employed in Armenia. The Yerevan branch manages two state-of-the-art nurseries and a large-scale reforestation nursery, and partners with families to create tree-based micro-enterprise opportunities.
ATP's mission is to assist the Armenian people in using trees to improve their standard of living and protect the environment, guided by the need to promote
self-sufficiency , aid those with the fewest resources first, and conserve the indigenous ecosystem. Since 1994, ATP has planted and restored over 2,000,000 trees in Armenia and created hundreds of jobs in seasonal tree-regeneration programs.External links
