History

The airline was established in 1970, although it did not start operations until 1990 due to the many problems it faced. It ceased operations on 1 November 2004 [1]. It had operated helicopter services linking the islands of Malta and Gozo since 1990. It had carried some 30,000 - 40,000 passengers per year, having reached a peak of 64,000 passengers in 1994. The operation became unsustainable for the Air Malta Group as the demand for the service declined and never managed to reach adequate levels [3].
