Lorraine Daston

Lorraine Daston is an American science historian, presently the the executive director of the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science (MPIWG) in Berlin. A member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences since 1993, Daston balances her time in Germany with a visiting professorship in The Committee on Social Thought at the University of Chicago.

Daston's work has long defined the cutting edge of research into the history of science.

She is married to the German psychologist Gerd Gigerenzer.
