"The Weekend" is the first hit single of Michael Gray.The song features a sample replay by Mark Summers of Scorccio Sample Replays, a re-edited version of the 80's Electro-Funk song; Kerr's "Back At Ya". It debuted and peaked at Number 7 in the UK charts and was number 1 in Italy and Poland and Top 5 in Australia. The main singer is Shena.
The chorus is sung to the same tune as the line "I can't wait for Saturday to begin..." from Oliver Cheatham's Get Down Saturday Night.
