Luke Chia-Liu Yuan

Luke Chia-Liu Yuan (zh-tpw|t=袁家騮|p=Yuán Jiāliú|w=Yüan Chia-liu) (April 5 1912February 11, 2003) was an Chinese American physicist and grandson of Yuan Shikai.

Born in Anyang, Henan, Yuan attended Yenching University in Beijing and California Institute of Technology. He began living in the United States in 1936.

Yuan worked at Brookhaven National Laboratory as a science educator and later was founding Chairman of Synchrotron Radiation Research Center of Taiwan and Wu-Yuan Natural Science Foundation.

He was married to Chien-Shiung Wu, also a noted physicist and lived in New York City. Yuan died in Beijing. He is survived by his granddaughter, Jada Yuan of New York City, son Vincent Yuan (nuclear physicist of New Mexico) and brother Yuan Jiaji of Tianjin, China.
