Teshik-Tash

Teshik-Tash

Teshik-Tash is an archaeological site in Uzbekistan in central Asia, and the easternmost site to contain remains of the Neanderthal people. The inhabitants were "Transition Neanderthals" rather than "Classic Neanderthals." The site includes the remains of a Neanderthal child in association with Ibex horns which may have been funerary offerings. The intentional burial of this child is, however, questionable, as his remains were gnawed on by carnivores.
