Road Re-route : Box Grove By-Pass

According to the 2008 MapArt Golden Horseshoe Atlas, York Regional Road 69 is currently re-routed, meaning York Regional Road 69 is re-aligned. The re-routing's purpose is to accommodate the extra traffic generated by the growing community of Cornell. The new-alignment has 4 lanes of traffic. Currently the new alignment is just at north of York Regional Road 71 (14th Avenue). The new alignment was built due to the fact that the old 9th line between Highway 407 and 14th Avenue could not sustain the newly generated traffic from Cornell. Expanding the old section of 9th Line is not possible due to the close proximity of existed buildings along this 2-laned road from Rouge Bank Drive to just south of 14th Avenue. The new alignment is called Box Grove By-Pass. The old section of 9th Line north of Rouge Bank Drive ends at a cul de sac. The south end north of the railway tracks will likely become a cul de sac once residential development is completed. The south end south of the tracks is re-aligned with the south stub of Donald Cousens Parkway.

Flow along the new route is as follows:

* to travel north of 14th Avenue traffic on 9th Line must turn left on Rouge Bank Drive
* east along Rouge Bank Drive to Box Grove Bypass
* turn left at Rouge Bank Drive and Box Grove Bypass
* north along Box Grove Bypass, which will turn into 9th Line before Highway 407

* to travel south of 14th Avenue traffic must use 14th Avenue east to Box Grove Bypass
* turn right onto Box Grove Bypass at 14th Avenue
* south on Box Grove Bypass, which will meet and merge into Donald Cousens Parkway
* southwest on Donald Cousens Parkway, which will meet and merge into south stub of 9th Line
