- Scratchy & Co.
"Scratchy and Co" was a
CITV show, which was broadcast over the following periods in the mid to late 1990s:* May - December 1995
* May - August 1996
* January - April 1997
* January - April 1998It replaced "What's Up Doc?" as the Saturday morning ITV show.
It starred
Mark Speight as "Scratchy" andElliot Henderson-Boyle as "Reg". The main gimmick of the show was Speight and Henderson-Boyle sporting "solid rubber wigs" (not to be confused with the character of "Sam the Lift" in CBBC'sIncredible Games ) and eccentric jackets. A stylistic similarity might be noted between this approach andMax Headroom .Later series introduced other characters such as Sedgely the penguin and Fathead the football.
Later on, the series moved away from the original Max Headroom-esque style, into a studio where Scratchy (now minus the rubber wig) sat behind a desk, with Reg behind a window. At this point, guests were invite into the studio and interviewed. However most of the characters which had been introduced earlier were dropped.
Gail Porter was a frequent guest presenter in the final series.The show was nominated for a
BAFTA [http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2008/04/14/db1402.xml]External links
