Yarkon Park

Yarkon Park

The Yarkon Park ( _he. פארק הירקון, "Park HaYarkon") is a large urban park (3.8 km²) in Tel Aviv, Israel, visited by thousands every week. [ [http://www.tel-aviv-insider.com/park-hayarkon.php Park Hayarkon – the central park of Tel Aviv] ] Stretching along Rokach Boulevard in its northern edge and the neighborhood of Bavli in its southern edge, the park includes various sports facilities, botanical gardens, an aviary, a waterpark, two outdoor concert venues (a mid-sized 'Wohl Amphitheatre' and a large artificial bowl) and a few artificial lakes. The last leg of the Yarkon River runs through the park and spills into the Mediterranean Sea at the park's western edge. Though clean up efforts were made in the last few years, the river is still polluted and it is ill advised to swim or fish in it. Nevertheless, the area around the river's estuary, along with Tel Aviv's inactive port, is a popular hang-out with restaurants, dance clubs, pubs and shops.

The park has hosted many musical acts such as Paul McCartney, Madonna, Michael Jackson, U2, Elton John, Guns N' Roses, Metallica, David Bowie, Dire Straits, Westlife and 5ive.
